The Tibetan Men's National Football Team proudly participated in the Independence Cup 2025, held in Kalimpong, West Bengal, India, from 1–15 August 2025. The tournament brought together leading football clubs and representative teams from different regions, providing Team Tibet with a valuable platform to compete at a high level platform.
In preparation for the tournament, Team Tibet conducted a dedicated training camp at Salugara, where the players underwent intensive technical, tactical, and physical training. The camp played an important role in strengthening team cohesion, improving match readiness, and ensuring the squad was well prepared for the challenges of the competition.
Team Tibet progressed to the semi-finals, where they faced the Kalimpong Police Team on 12 August 2025. Despite a determined and spirited performance, Team Tibet was defeated 3–0, concluding its campaign with a commendable semi-final finish against strong regional opposition.
Participation in the Independence Cup formed an important part of the Tibetan National Sports Association's (TNSA) football development programme. The tournament provided valuable competitive experience, strengthened the team's match preparedness, and offered players the opportunity to compete against quality opposition in a highly competitive environment. Through continued participation in such tournaments, TNSA remains committed to enhancing the standard of Tibetan football, developing national team players, and promoting Tibetan identity and sporting excellence through the game of football.
